She is a full professor at the Faculty of Education of the University
of Ottawa, where she teaches language learning and literacies. Her
research interests include the development of languages and literacies,
especially in a minority setting. Recently, she contributed as an
expert on the Think Literacy Success project. The aim of this project
was to address the acquisition of literacy competency needs of exceptional
high school students.
For several years now, Diana Masny has devoted considerable time to
the development of a theory of multiple literacies. Her research in
this field has gained the attention of several governmental and parapublic
institutions. For example, Alberta Learning adopted multiple literacies
theory for teaching French at the preschool level.
